PETERSON CONTEMPORARY ART

Bend, Oregon's Foremost Contemporary Art Gallery

Spring is upon us! We are welcoming the change of season with a wonderful and lively new show featuring sculptor Sandy Graves and painter Scott Switzer. The show, "Pushing Boundaries", will open Friday April 4th from 5-8pm. Both of the artists will be in attendance as well as the soothing jazz sounds of Dillon Schneider and a glass of wine on offer!

Colorado artist Sandy Graves first displayed her early work at the county fair as a 4-H member but it wasn't until 1999 that Sandy cast (and sold) her first bronze work. She sees bronze sculpture as being a friendly and beautiful medium and particularly enjoys watching people interact, walk around and really become a part of the sculpted art. "Realism and abstract styles have both been popular for me. My series of abstract horses are fun to make and are wildly expressive."

Scott Switzer's interest in art was always encouraged by his parents and he soon developed a preference for oil painting. Scott's oils are colorfully bold and executed in the cubism style and is equally adept with any subject including landscapes, portraits, wildlife and still life. He is greatly inspired by the poem Hope is the Thing with Feathers by Emily Dickinson in particular the line: "And sings the tune without the words - and never stops - at all."
