Scott Switzer

Scott Switzer was born in Billings, Montana, and as a child his interest in art was encouraged by his parents.  He attended Otis Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles and later studied with painter Clyde Aspevig, who was an important mentor.  He developed a preference for oil painting depicting home life, the human figure and Montana’s natural splendor.  He focused on plein-air painting, influenced by post-impressionism and inspired by contemporary Russian landscape painting.

Scott’s oils are colorfully bold and executed in the cubism style.  He is equally adept with any subject: landscapes, portraits, wildlife or still life subject matter.

Hope is the Thing with Feathers  Emily Dickinson

Hope is the thing with feathers -

That perches in the soul -

And sings the tune without the words -

And never stops – at all

Scott Switzer and his family live in Sandpoint, Idaho.
